we bought a mid-century!

After many months of searching, nights and weekends spent with our real estate agents, and combing through Redfin...constantly, we put in an offer on a home in our favorite neighborhood in Virginia and it was accepted! I thought for a while we would end up in Maryland but as we expanded our search, we fell in love with Holmes Run Acres (HRA). We put two offers in on houses in HRA and did not get the first one but the second one came through! It was a long negotiation process that went on for more than a week and there were a couple points at which I didn't think we were going to get the house but here we are.

We are excited to get moved on on July 12 and get to know our neighbors and settle in. We also have a lot of plans and ideas for the house (exterior and interior painting, ripping up carpet, light fixtures, new furniture, etc.) but need to take it slow because....money! If I had unlimited finances, I would already be figuring out when I could remodel the kitchen but the fact is that that is going to be a few years down the line. I plan to use this blog to chronicle our mid-century design journey and share all of the updates to our home. I also can't wait for this yard...
