The kitchen nook

What are your thoughts on the kitchen nook? Lately that's all I can think about as I ponder a kitchen remodel. Growing up, my aunt was an interior designer in Seattle. She had a beautiful home that she designed and used for her business. She did a major renovation on her kitchen and created a nook with cozy benches on both sides and a hidden television for those seated. Whenever I think of a nook, I think of her. Sharing some of my favorite nook designs.

The ultimate mid-century nook with long, contemporary benches, bright colors, beamed ceilings, and an Eames style chair.

I love the use of modern chairs, the clean lines, and how the nook is centered under a window with great light. The pendant light is a great touch too.

I am a sucker for rattan but it's often overdone. These black and neutral rattan chairs add some contrast to the neutrals.

I've been spending time on Article looking for mid-century modern furniture. The site is more affordable than most MCM furniture shops and shares great ideas for designing a room.

I'm loving this set-up and could see something similar in a future kitchen. It feels doable and not over the top with accent pillows and a great pendant.

I'm a sucker for a bunch of pillows situated perfectly in a nook.

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
