The Frederick Loewe Estate
My mom and I went to Palm Springs last week for a fun and too short getaway. I have been to Palm Springs before and classified it as a mid-century mecca but was blown away by all of the phenomenal homes. We took several drives through the neighborhoods and snapped some photos of colorful, mid-mod homes but the most stunning home of all was the Frederick Loewe Estate. Frederick Loewe was a composer, who developed the music for My Fair Lady, Gigi, and Camelot, to name a few. His desert home was built in 1956 and features three acres of greenery, tennis courts, a pool and spa, and breathtaking views.
We were able to tour the home thanks to The WE STUDIO, an event planning and coordination service in southern California. I recommend looking into Frederick Loewe if you are planning an event in Palm Springs and want something intimate and unique.
The bed is on a turn table so spin away...
Not a bad place to compose some music.
Loewe's musical posters are displayed in one of the bedrooms.
The current owner has modernized the home and built a home for her family next door. She maintains the Frederick Loewe and has designed the home with beautiful mid-century pieces and art.
The view from a higher point in the backyard.
The outdoor area is sprawling.
As a mid-century modern addict, I was floored with this property. While it's very different than anything you would see in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area, it feels most similar to a Hollin Hills home, built into a hill with a flat roof and centered around the landscape.
