statement art

My mom came to visit last weekend to see the house and help us get settled. We spent a significant amount of time at Merrifield Garden Center (three trips!) to buy several new plants and planters for the deck and backyard, Target (of course), and Union Market in DC. Sidebar - Merrifield Garden Center is my new favorite place and I plan on spending much of my time there. They have a plant clinic, beautiful flowers and plants for all seasons, amazing candles, and an extremely knowledgeable staff. At Union Market, we wandered into Anna Kemper Atelier and immediately noticed this striking piece by Windy O'Connor. After very little deliberation, I knew we had to have it for the living room or entry way.

Homecoming Queen Chica is still available at Windy O'Connor but she has so many beautiful prints. The unique thing about this print is that it's on grass cloth so it has a lovely texture. We have a long ways to go, I just put together our "project plan" for each room, which I will share here for those of you in need of a solid template for house updates. Once we figure out exactly where this piece will go, I will share more photos of how we styled it.

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
