spring house search

In an update that surprises no one...we are STILL looking for a house. It's somewhat mind numbing that this search began in December, but as Ryan likes to remind me, we didn't get serious about it until January and then didn't stumble upon the Charles Goodman until February. So we are going on about four months of solid searching. We had a real disappointment yesterday when we went to look at a house in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood that had come on the market the night before. We absolutely loved the house, it really fit what we are looking for. Our realtor went to call the listing agent and learned that the house already had four offers and the sellers were nearly set on one. We decided on price and our realtor hustled home to send the offer over. Ten minutes later we learned that the sellers had gone with the previous offer, which was actually under the price we were going to offer. I couldn't believe it.

The Bonnie Brae neighborhood in Fairfax, VA features contemporary homes on sloping hills with beautiful trees and wide widewalks.

Backsplash, countertops, shelving, I loved the kitchen.

The home blended contemporary and mid-century seamlessly.

The kitchen was phenomenal.

The home was split-level and the downstairs had an open area family room, office, and guest bedroom and bathroom.

Office.

The deck really sold us. It was built recently and opened onto an expansive backyard.

This was definitely a painful loss and especially disappointing that we didn't even get to submit an offer but we will keep our eye on this neighborhood.

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
