MIDCENTURY on AD
Lately I've been noticing an uptick in mid-century modern homes and styles in Architectural Digest, the swoon-worthy publication for celebrity homes and glamorous design. I'm used to seeing the outlandish homes of Kourtney Kardashian and Ashton Kutcher/Mila Kunis featured but in recent months, a few homes on the main page have been slightly more modest, minimalist and mid-century in original design. Two of my recent favorites include the home of Abby Wombach and Glennon Doyle in Naples, FL, full of MCM aesthetic and the gorgeous home of artist, Vaughn Spann in New Jersey.
Abby and Glennon's MCM-Inspired Home
A round mirror, gold faucet and unique wallpaper achieve cohesiveness and simplicity.
Their eat-in kitchen centers around a modern light fixture.
An eclectic bedroom design.
Colorful bookshelves, a hanging console, and schoolhouse light fixture feel modern day MCM.
Vaughn Spann's Original MCM Home
I cannot get over the tasteful decisions in the furniture and art.
Vaughn and his wife remodeled the kitchen to fit their needs.
Gorgeous wood paneling and a foyer that opens into the living room is a classic MCM layout.
Love the floor-to-ceiling windows and original brick.
Their decision to use mint green chairs is perfect for the dining room.
