MCM color palettes

I am not a designer, nor do I consider myself a color-expert but I do know what I like and I think that some color palettes are more aligned to mid-century design, than others. Some MCM is really bold, others more neutral, but I think it's important that the colors work well with the signature wood paneling and terrazzo or wood flooring. These are some of my favorite color palettes.

I found these colors on an etsy site selling instagram story highlight icons - I didn't even know that was a thing. The level of social media creativity is beyond! But I liked it more a foundation for color palette tones in a home.

I prefer earthy tones for a living room or sitting area because I think it should feel meditative and warm. Katie Hodges Design in LA also has some great neutral living room inspiration on their site.

Here's another fun color palette for a future office or kid's room, fun and simple.

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
