Holmes run acres historic district

Holmes Run Acres is one of my favorite mid-century neighborhoods in the DMV, located just 20 minutes from downtown DC in Falls Church, Virginia. It really feels like the ideal suburb community with homes built in the 1950s and 60s and modeled after the California mid-centuries of the period. The neighborhood is comprised of 355 homes developed by the Luria Brothers with architects, Nicholas Satterlee and Donald Letherbridge.

My favorite architect in the area, Michael Cook, has remodeled some of the homes in his signature modern style and they really fit into the general vibe of the neighborhood. We have looked at a few homes in Holmes Run but it tends to be fairly competitive. We are touring one on Friday - stay tuned!

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
