hollin hills house + garden 2024

I've always wanted to attend the Hollin Hills House + Garden Tour but for the past few years, was either out of town or did not purchase tickets in time. They always sell out and this year was no different. Luckily for me, a phenomenal architect and lovely person who also lives in my neighborhood, Christiane deJong, reached out to me to to talk about my blog. She also offered me an extra ticket to the tour. Of course I accepted and I met up with Christiane and a few of her clients for the tour several weeks ago. I highly recommend going on a mid-century home tour with a knowledgeable architect who specializes in mid-century design. Christiane shared such interesting insights about modern and post-modern architecture, as we explored each home!

A high modern kitchen in Hollin Hills

It was certainly an interesting mix of homes on the tour, some homes had been purchased in 2020 and and 2021 and the owners had spent the last couple of years doing an entire renovation with gorgeous kitchens and high modern touches. Other homes were more traditional MCM with impressive collections of vintage furniture and unique style, which I think is my preference. Some snapshots from my favorite tours...

A home with real MCM style

A very cute coffee station

The perfect spot for a Nelson light

Cute and colorful bedrooms

Loving this wallpaper vibe

Impressive raised beds on a garden tour

Appreciated this neutral design

An impressive entertaining space

Despite the rainy-ish day, we had a lovely time and I will definitely be back next year with Ryan!

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
