hammond woods getaway

Ryan and I enjoyed an unexpected getaway last weekend north of the city in one of our favorite Charles Goodman neighborhoods, Hammond Woods. Our friends at Cook Architecture (my favorite modern-day architect with a knack for restoring Charles Goodman homes), offered us one of their Airbnb properties for the weekend. It was a such a lovely weekend. We ordered pizza, enjoyed the steam shower, cooked eggs on the Viking stove and admired Michael Cook's unique style geared toward minimalism and easy living.

A very cool mid-century door.

Dining area off the kitchen.

Absolutely love the light-filled kitchen.

Where's the fridge?

Backyard pond.

We spent the evening watching Harry Potter

And enjoying the calming bathroom.

Pizzas from Timber Pizza Co.

My excitement at being able to spend 24 hours in this lovely home.

Exposure to the outdoors.

Breakfast.

Spent the afternoon outside soaking up the sun.

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
