Dreamy mid century in santa monica

Sometimes I think the internet is the single best thing to happen to a home buyer in the last two decades. Sites like Redfin and Zillow provide a sneak peak at a house before you spend time touring. In some cases you have access to floor plans and virtual tours too. You can peruse houses all over the country and run data on comparable homes in the area you are exploring. It's like a part time job I don't get paid for. Dwell is a great resource for mid century modern home inspiration. This morning as I browsed through a few home updates, I paused on this gorgeous home in Santa Monica, California.

It looks like they were able to maintain much of the original stone and paneling in the family room.

Love the book shelf, long credenza and openness of this space.

Beautiful lighting and fixtures.

The wood floors also look original.

I love this backsplash so much.

This room on the lower level retains so much "mid century," it looks like it could have been plucked out of 1965.

The kitchen is modern but also nods to an earlier time.

I had to include this one because I love Heath Ceramics and used to visit their workshop often in San Francisco.

Welcome to my midcentury musings...

I'm Madeline, a Northern Virginia resident settling into a midcentury hideaway in the suburbs. I love low-fi music, Negronis, and firing up the record player on Friday nights.
